2019 -- Moved to No. 10 in school history for the decathlon, compiling a career-best score of 6,693 points at the Big West Championships from May 3-4 ... his Conference Finals tally, which collected 3 points for the Mustangs in the team column thanks to a sixth-place total, ranked 58th regionally for the season ... established a new PR for the high jump on April 27 in the Blue-Green Rivalry Dual at UC Santa Barbara, clearing 6 feet, 8.75 inches (a height which finished the season ranked No. 64 west of the Mississippi, only 16 spots back of advancing to the NCAA Championship First Round) ... went on to take fifth place in the conference high jump final, allocating 3.5 additional points for Cal Poly with a 6’ 6.75” clearance ... meanwhile, his top javelin throw — a victorious mark of 189’ 7” at the Gaucho Tri-Meet March 9 — held up all spring as the No. 86 mark in regional qualifying for the postseason ... multis performance at the Big West Finals also included a career-best long jump mark of 21’ 10.25” on May 3 at Pauley Track ... also had the squad’s top 110m hurdles time of the season, clocking a 15.25-second effort at the season opener in Goleta ... again made the Big West All-Academic Team, in addition to earning Conference Commissioner’s Highest Honors in the classroom for a second year in a row.
2018 -- Compiled a partial decathlon score of 5,672 points (through nine events — still earning seventh place) at the Sam Adams Combined Events Invitational hosted by Westmont from April 6-7 ... displayed versatility with four top-five rankings on the team across several events, as he was first in the high jump (clearing 6 feet & 6.75 inches for fourth place at Cal State Fullerton’s Titan Challenge on March 31), second in the 110-meter hurdles (a third-place 15.11 seconds at the Cal Poly ShareSLO Invitational on March 24), fourth in the javelin (155’ 5” at the home invite) and fifth in the long jump (21’ 1.25” in Montecito, where he established four PRs in all) ... also made the Big West All-Academic Team.
2017 -- Competed in two events as a true freshman at the Big West Conference Championships, taking 12th place in the high jump (with a clearance of 6-foot-3.5) and 15th in the 110-meter hurdles (15.35 seconds) at CSF from May 12-13 ... season-best performances in each were 6’ 4.75” (earning second place at the Blue-Green Rivalry Dual Meet vs. UCSB on April 29, helping the Mustangs win 110-88) and 15.29 (at the Beach Invitational on April 15) ... entered nine events in the decathlon at the Sam Adams Invitational hosted April 7-8 in Montecito, compiling a (partial) score of 5,344 points.
Prep -- As a senior at Los Altos High School, won the 2016 Santa Clara Valley League championship for the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.83 seconds ... posted a high jump PR of 6 feet, 4 inches for sixth place at the 2016 Stanford Invitational ... in his final season, helped lead the Eagles to a 5-1 dual meet record as well as a De Anza League title ... also played football (as a wide receiver), basketball (small forward) and lacrosse (attackman) ... was selected as the school’s Athlete of the Year in 2014 and 2016, and won the Eagle Award at graduation ... also was part of the non-profit “Have Faith, Be Strong” organization.
Personal -- Uncle Ryan Hoag was an NFL wide receiver ... majors in Biological Sciences and aspires to become a biotechnologist.
