Kevon is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Cal Poly men’s basketball program.
“Kevon has demonstrated a tremendous work ethic the past two seasons as our Director of Player Development,” ninth-year head coach Joe Callero said. “He will be an excellent full-time assistant on the road recruiting as well as developing our guys on and off the court.”
Arriving in San Luis Obispo in August 2016, Davis – in his first role as Cal Poly’s Director of Player Development – oversaw player performance in regard to strength and conditioning and nutrition programs; monitored academic progress; helped coordinate travel and served as a liaison between Cal Poly’s players and the campus and San Luis Obispo communities.
Prior to Cal Poly, Davis was a two-year assistant at Casper (Wyo.) College where he helped the program to a 47-18 combined record and an appearance in the NJCAA Top 25 coaches poll. Davis was also an assistant coach at Harcum College (Bryn Mawr, Penn.) from 2010-14. With Davis on the bench, Harcum compiled a 100-29 record and reached the 2014 NJCAA Tournament Final Four.
During his time at the junior college level, 18 players coached by Davis transferred to Division I programs.
As a player, Davis was a two-year letterwinner at both West Chester University (West Chester, Penn.) and Harcum College. A native of Upper Darby, Penn., Davis graduated from West Chester in 2010 with a degree in professional studies.
