Alec Smith
Director of Player Development • Second Season

A four-year letter winner in baseball at Cal Poly, Alec Smith is in his second season on the coaching staff of the Mustang baseball program, serving as Director of Player Development.
Smith played in 77 games as an infielder at Cal Poly from 2014-17, starting 36 contests. He hit .227 as a senior, .212 as a sophomore and earned the team's Dave Oliver Hustle Award after his junior campaign. His only home run as a Mustang was against CSUN in 2016 and Smith also had a three-hit game against San Jose State as a junior in 2016. He produced another three-hit contest versus CSU Bakersfield as a sophomore in 2015 and also hit a three-run double in the first inning against Pacific during his sophomore campaign.
Smith was a .453 hitter with 13 doubles, one triple, two home runs and 33 RBI as a senior at Quartz Hill High School in 2013. He earned first-team All-Golden League honors for the second straight year and also was a second-team All-CIF-Southern Section Division I honoree as a senior. Smith also hit .343 as a junior and was class valedictorian.
Born in Palmdale, Calif., on August 31, 1995, Smith's parents are Michael and Jennifer Smith and Alec has one brother, Austin. Alec graduated from Cal Poly in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and has worked as a physical therapist for Mission Physical Therapy Group in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
