Ryan Tayman Earns Second Big West Field Player of the Week Honor

IRVINE, Calif. — For the second time this season, the Big West's co-home runs leader Ryan Tayman was named conference Field Player of the Week.
The junior catcher slashed .529/.550/.880 and collected nine hits, four RBI and eight runs. He had previously taken home his first honor on March 30 after slashing .471/.583/1.059 with eight hits, three home runs, five RBI and four runs.
Tayman kicked off the week with a three-hit effort against the Bulldogs in a 15-10 slugfest before crushing his 16th home run of the season in the 11-3 series opening win against Long Beach State. The local Grover Beach native's homer tied him for second in program history for single season home runs.
He them tallied five more hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored in the remaining two games to help the Mustangs claim their second Big West regular season title in program history.
Through all 54 games played, Tayman enters the postseason hitting a team-leading .351 average with 16 home runs, 53 RBI and 48 runs.
