SAN LUIS OBISPO – Seventy Cal Poly student-athletes across nine programs – an improvement of nine Mustangs from last year – were named to the Big West Spring Academic All-Conference list Tuesday morning.
In order to qualify for selection, student-athletes (excluding true freshmen and first-year transfers) had to maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA through the most recent academic term while also competing in at least 50 percent of their program’s competitions.
The complete listing of Cal Poly’s 70 Big West Spring Academic All-Conference honorees is below.
The Mustang women’s track and field program – which secured a top-three finish at the Big West Championship for a fourth successive season – once again led all of Cal Poly’s programs with 22 selections. Pole vaulter Lexi Evans – who finished seventh at the NCAA Championships to become Cal Poly’s first All-America first team selection in 15 years – earned a third career Big West Academic All-Conference honor. Also highlighting the 22-athlete list was Big West Championship 10,000-meter winner and NCAA West Preliminary qualifier Kelly Gaffney.
Cal Poly’s men’s track and field program, which captured a third successive Big West Championship title in May, contributed 14 further selections. Carson Smith, 21st at the NCAA Championships in the 1,500 meters and an All-America honorable mention selection, collected his fourth career academic honor (track and cross country). Meanwhile, Michael Chambers – an NCAA West Preliminary qualifier in the 5,000 meters – became a five-time Big West Academic All-Conference honoree.
Izzy Martinez and Logan Walter, who in 2026 set new Mustang beach volleyball records for career and single season pair victories, earned Big West Academic All-Conference honors (the duo were also selected for AVCA All-America second team inclusion). Martinez, Cal Poly’s all-time individual wins leader, became a three-time Big West Academic honoree. Also earning academic praise was junior Erin Inskeep, half of the 2026 Big West Pair of the Year selection and an AVCA All-America first team pick.
The Mustang baseball program, which reached the program’s first NCAA Tournament super regional after capturing a second straight Big West Championship title, enjoyed six selections.
Cal Poly’s softball program picked up six selections – the fifth successive season the Mustangs garnered at least a half-dozen honorees. Under 22nd-year head coach Jenny Condon, Cal Poly has earned 102 Big West Academic All-Conference selections.
The Cal Poly women’s golf team, winners of a fifth Big West Championship trophy in May, totaled three academic selections – including Nicole Koong, who established a new program record with a 73.7 career stroke average.
Cal Poly’s men’s golf program, runners-up at May’s Big West Championship, produced four honorees with All-Big West second team selection Nolan Kuszyk earning inclusion.
The women’s tennis program matched a program record set last spring with six selections – 75 percent of its eligible roster. Alexandra Ozerets – who broke the program record for career singles victories in April – graduated as a three-time Big West Academic All-Conference honoree alongside Kennedy Buntrock.
The Mustang men’s tennis program, meanwhile, added three further honorees.
