
No. 6 Mustangs Sweep First Two Big West Championship Matches to Advance to Semifinals

AN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Playing in front of its home crowd, Cal Poly beach volleyball used home court advantage to sweep through both of its first two matches of the Big West Championship Friday at Swanson Beach Volleyball Complex to advance to Saturday’s semifinals.
The No. 6 Mustangs (28-8) beat both CSUN and UC Davis by scores of 5-0 Friday during pool play of the Big West Championship. As the No. 1 seed, Cal Poly is now in the Big West Championship Semifinals.
Cal Poly’s pairs were dominant Friday, winning all 10 of their matches in straight sets. The No. 1 pair of Ella Connor and Erin Inskeep improved to 31-5 on the season with their two wins. The No. 2 pair of Logan Walter and Izzy Martinez keep rolling and are 32-3 together this season.
The No. 3 pair of Ashleigh Adams and Quinn Perry are now 25-4 on the year together while the No. 4 pair of Elise Lenahan and Julia Westby are 26-3 and have won six in a row.
At the No. 5 pair Friday was the duo of Peyton Dueck and Katie Clevenger. Their two wins together pushed their record as a pair to 6-2.
Cal Poly will now await the winner of Saturday’s 10 a.m. match between No. 17 Hawai’i and CSUN to determine who they will face at 12:30 p.m. in the semifinals. If they win that, they will play in the championship match at 3:15 p.m. at Swanson Beach Volleyball Complex.
