
Kuszyk Paces Cal Poly after Initial Two Rounds of R.E. Lamkin Invitational

CHULA VISTA – Sophomore Nolan Kuszyk (above) strung together back-to-back two-under 70s on Monday and sits in sixth place after the opening two rounds of the R.E. Lamkin Invitational as the Cal Poly men’s golf program resides in ninth.
With the tournament co-hosted by San Diego State and San Diego at the par-72, 7,033-yard Chula Vista Country Club, Kuszyk carded four birdies during Monday’s opening round before producing two more in the afternoon second round – and an eagle on the par-five, 485-yard 14th hole – for a combined four-under 140.
Entering Tuesday morning’s final round, Kuszyk is seven shots behind overall leader Alejandro De Castro of Long Beach State.
Cal Poly graduate student Kyle Dougherty is 46th following a morning even-par 72 that included four birdies. He then shot 75 in the afternoon for a two-round 147.
Freshman Rafael Bobo-Lloret, February’s Big West Golfer of the Month honoree, is 54th after a morning 76 and afternoon 72. Bobo-Lloret produced five total birdies Monday.
Junior Jack Jarvis and freshman Zihao Wang share 70th with seven-over 151s. Jarvis finished with a morning 72 before firing a seven-over 79 during Monday’s afternoon round. Wang, meanwhile, also eagled the 14th hole during his morning 75.
Competing as an independent, senior Sean Lehman is 80th with an eight-over 152 that included four total birdies.
As a team, Cal Poly shares ninth alongside Pacific with a seven-over 295 in the 16-program field. San Diego leads at 19-under.
The final round of the R.E. Lamkin Invitational begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10.
