
Kuszyk Finishes Ninth at R.E. Lamkin Invitational

CHULA VISTA – Sophomore Nolan Kuszyk enjoyed his second top 10 showing of the season Tuesday afternoon, completing the R.E. Lamkin Invitational with a four-under 212 to finish ninth overall while the Cal Poly men’s golf program – as a team – was 10th.
With the tournament co-hosted by San Diego State and San Diego at the par-72, 7,033-yard Chula Vista Country Club, Kuszyk (70-71-71) closed play with a one-under 71 that included four birdies. He finished under par in all three rounds and with 10 total birdies.
Graduate student Kyle Dougherty and freshman Rafael Bobo-Lloret, meanwhile, shared 46th position at five-over 221. Dougherty (72-75-74) ended with four birdies Tuesday while Bobo-Lloret (76-72-73) was Cal Poly’s biggest mover on the final day, improving seven spots.
Freshman Zihao Wang (75-76-76) produced two birdies Tuesday, but finished 71st with an 11-over 227. Junior Jack Jarvis (72-79-77) was a shot behind while senior Sean Lehman (77-75-77) – competing as an independent – finished at 13 over.
As a program, Cal Poly finished with a 13-over 877 (289-294-294). The Mustangs fell one spot in the 16-program field on the final day.
Cal Poly continues action at Central Michigan’s March 23-24 Bridgestone College Invitational at Silverado Resort in Napa.
