NAPA – Freshman Rafael Bobo-Lloret (above) leads the Cal Poly men’s golf program in 18th place following Monday’s opening two rounds of Central Michigan’s Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational while the Mustangs – as a team – reside in sixth in the 14-program field.
At the par-72, 6,859-yard Silverado Resort North Course, Bobo-Lloret – February’s Big West Golfer of the Month honoree – carded four morning birdies as part of a two-under 70 before firing a 72 in the afternoon. Entering Tuesday morning’s final round, Bobo-Lloret is 10 shots behind overall leader Kihei Akina of BYU.
Graduate student Kyle Dougherty and sophomore Nolan Kuszyk share 24th place with dual one-under 143s. Dougherty enjoyed a two-under 70 in the morning and a one-over 73 in the afternoon. Kuszyk produced the same scores with five total birdies Monday.
Junior Jack Jarvis sits a shot behind in 33rd, following a morning 74 with a two-under 70 and three birdies in the afternoon for his even-par 144.
Senior Sean Lehman and junior Leo Metzger (competing as an independent) are in 66th with seven-over 151s. Lehman carded six total birdies while Metzger finished with three.
As a team, Cal Poly produced a four-under 284 Monday, but the Mustangs are eight shots behind fifth-place Santa Clara.
Final round action at the Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational gets underway Tuesday morning.
