SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Setter Alexis Haury has joined the Mustangs’ star-studded roster following the team’s historic 2025 season and run to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.
Haury is the first Power-4 transfer to join the volleyball program since Tommi Stockham made the move from Indiana University in 2021. Head Coach Caroline Walters expressed excitement about adding a setter of Haury’s caliber after losing Emme Bullis to graduation this offseason.
The transfer process can move quickly, but with Alexis, it was very intentional. We made sure she and her family felt comfortable with our vision and our culture. That relationship piece mattered. It wasn’t just about what she could do for our program, it was about making sure Cal Poly was the right fit for her as a person and a student-athlete.Head Coach Caroline Walters
A Silverton, Ore. native, Haury will enter her junior season in 2026. Before her two years as a Washington Husky, she sported one of the most impressive high school recruiting résumés in the country. She was named Oregon Gatorade Player of the Year in both 2021 and 2022, ranked as the No. 9 overall recruit in the nation by PrepDig.com, and No. 17 overall by PrepVolleyball.com, earning the No. 4 spot among setters on both sites.
“The fact that we were able to bring in a nationally touted recruit and a veteran Power-Four setter speaks volumes about where our program is," coach Walters said about the team's growth. "Student-athletes around the country see the trajectory we’re on. They see our style of play, our culture, our academic reputation, the way we develop players and our continued success on the court.”
The 5-foot-10 setter began her college career at Washington, where she made an immediate impact as a freshman. Appearing in 102 sets and starting seven matches, she ranked second on the team with 477 assists and averaged 4.68 assists per set while rotating at setter in a 6-2 formation. In her collegiate debut, Haury posted 30 assists and 10 digs, becoming the first Huskies player to achieve that since 2018.
Haury elevated her game significantly in 2025, appearing in all 30 matches and recording exactly 1,000 assists, an average of 9.26 per set. She also ranked second on the team with 259 digs (2.40 per set), tallied 22 aces and 45 blocks, and led the squad with 13 double-doubles.
For someone with Alexis’s résumé to choose Cal Poly reinforces that this is a destination program. We’re competing nationally, not just in matches, but in recruiting, and that’s an exciting statement about our continued growth.Head Coach Caroline Walters
