
Mustangs Ranked No. 4 Heading Into Tournament in South Carolina

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly beach volleyball moved to No. 4 in the latest AVCA National Rankings on Tuesday as the Mustangs prepare for the Chanticleer Challenge this weekend in Conway, South Carolina.
Cal Poly now sits just outside the top three after opening the season ranked No. 3 in the AVCA Preseason Poll. The Mustangs trail No. 1 Stanford, No. 2 UCLA and No. 3 USC in this week’s national rankings.
The Mustangs enter the weekend with a 6-2 overall record after opening the season with four consecutive sweeps at the Third Coast College Classic in Houston and adding another 5-0 win over Boise State at the Battle for LA.
The Mustangs faced two of the nation’s top programs during the Los Angeles tournament, falling to No. 2 UCLA and No. 3 USC before closing the weekend with a 5-0 victory over Concordia Irvine
Cal Poly travels to South Carolina this weekend for the Chanticleer Challenge. The Mustangs take on Georgia State, Coastal Carolina, Tulane and No. 15 Florida Atlantic across two days of competition.
Following this weekend’s tournament, Cal Poly returns home to host the Mustang Roundup on March 13-14 at the Swanson Beach Volleyball Complex, marking the team’s first home event of the 2026 season.
