SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly women’s tennis program recently rounded out its 2025-26 roster, announcing that University of Oregon transfer Candela Aparisi will join the Mustangs for their upcoming season.
The talented junior originally from Valenica, Spain, will have two years of eligibility remaining when she arrives in San Luis Obispo.
“I’m beyond grateful for this opportunity,” Aparisi said. “I can’t wait to grow and compete as a Mustang.”
Across two seasons in Eugene, Aparisi recorded a 22-15 overall record in singles and a 26-16 mark in doubles. This past season with the Ducks, Aparisi went 14-5 overall in doubles play, including a 7-4 record while playing with Marjorie Souza in dual matches primarily at the No. 3 spot in the lineup. The duo posted a team-best 5-4 mark in Big Ten matches. In singles, she recorded a 9-6 overall record in singles and 3-3 mark while playing at the No. 5 spot in dual matches. She posted a perfect 3-0 in doubles at the Duck Invitational and went undefeated in both singles (2-0) and doubles (3-0) at the Jon Messick Invitational during the fall season.
Aparisi had an immediate impact at Oregon as a freshman in 2023-24, earning a 13-9 overall singles record and 9-7 mark in duals, boasting a team-best 4-2 record in conference matches while playing at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots. She recorded a 12-11 overall record in doubles and teamed up with Karin Young to defeat the No. 33-ranked doubles pairing in the country at the ITA Northwest Regional in the fall.
On the junior tour in Spain, Aparisi had a stellar career, claiming the singles title at the J5 ITF Silla-Saladar Tournament and winning the Master National Marca 16U tournament. She won three consecutive regional doubles championships in Spain and earned a top-eight ranking nationally in Spain for players 16 and under. She also won multiple professional events.
Aparisi joins incoming freshmen Aspen Chung (Tustin, Calif.), Tia Bonita Jakupovic-Kljako (London, England) and Olivia Mlouk (Long Beach, Calif.) as part of Cal Poly’s 2025-26 signing class. Next year, Cal Poly will be looking to build off yet another historic campaign that saw them advance to their fifth straight Big West Championship match and finish the year with a 19-5 overall record, the second most wins in a season in the program's Division I history, fifth most all-time and the most since going 20-7 in 2003. The Mustangs ended the season ranked No. 53 in the country, the team’s third highest ranking to end a year in program history and their best since finishing the 2011 campaign ranked No. 39.
