No. 6 Mustangs Take Down No. 7 Texas, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Friday

AUSTIN — Going to the state of Texas for the first time since 2019, No. 6 Cal Poly beach volleyball got off to a strong start at the first day of the Lone Star Invitational Friday in Austin, beating both No. 7 Texas and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
The No. 6 Mustangs (24-6) started the day by sweeping Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 5-0. They later finished the day with a 3-2 victory over the No. 7 Longhorns.
Cal Poly’s No. 1 pair of Piper Ferch and Erin Inskeep, No. 2 pair of Izzy Martinez and Logan Walter, and No. 4 pair of Ella Connor and Madi Nichols each went a perfect 2-0 on the day.
Ferch and Inskeep are now 23-6 on the season, Martinez and Walter are 23-7 together, and Connor and Nichols are 12-5 this year.
The Mustangs will wrap up the Lone Star Invitational Saturday with two more matches. They will face No. 17 North Florida at 6 a.m. PT followed by Southern Miss at 8 a.m. PT.
