SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Long Beach State transfers Conrad Bernstein and Aiden Pastorian — who both qualified for the NCAA West Preliminaries a year ago — will join the Cal Poly track and field program for the 2026 season.
Bernstein and Pastorian both recently signed their Financial Aid Agreement to complete their transfer to Cal Poly. Both have two years of eligibility remaining.
Bernstein is a javelin thrower who qualified for the NCAA West Preliminaries last season with a personal best of 216 feet, 5 inches (65.97 meters) at the Beach Invitational, the eighth best mark in the history of the Long Beach State track and field program. The El Segundo, Calif. native finished 30th out of 48 qualifiers at the meet with a mark of 206 feet, 11 inches and also placed third at the 2024 Big West Championships to earn All-Big West honors.
Bernstein threw over 200 feet in the javelin four times last season and finished seventh in the event at the 2023 Big West Championships as a true freshman.
Pastorian secured All-Big West honors in the shot put at last year’s conference championship by placing third with a lifetime best of 58 feet, 7.5 inches (17.87 meters), No. 9 in Long Beach State history. The mark allowed the Temecula, Calif. native to qualify for the NCAA West Prelims for the first time, where he took 29th overall with a mark of 57 feet, 7.75 inches.
Pastorian tossed over 57 feet in the shot put three times last season and earned seventh in the event at the Big West Championships as a true freshman. At the MPSF Indoor Championships, Pastorian placed second in the shot at the 2023 meet and fifth a year ago.
