
Szeto Paces Cal Poly on Final Day of The Goodwin

STANFORD – Highlighted by senior Baron Szeto’s one-under 69, four of the Cal Poly men’s golf program’s five players improved their position in the final standings during Saturday’s third round at Stanford’s The Goodwin.
At the 6,742-yard, par-70 Stanford Golf Course, Szeto (above) – the nation’s 130th-ranked player – recorded two birdies against just one bogey to jump 26 spots and finish 40th overall with a four-over 214 (70-75-69).
Senior Parker Mapes enjoyed two birdies Saturday, but beset by five bogeys, finished with a 75 Saturday and an 11-over 221 (72-74-75).
Sophomore Reese Sato collected four birdies and climbed four spots on the leaderboard with a three-over 73 and three-round total of 223 (73-77-73). Freshman Nolan Kuszyk finished with three birdies in his final eight holes for a three-over 73. Jumping 12 spots, Kuszyk posted a 16-over 226 (73-80-73). Senior Jackson Parrish, meanwhile, moved one spot up with a final-round 77.
As a program, Cal Poly finished 24th in the 30-program field.
Cal Poly plays one more tournament ahead of the April 27-29 Big West Championship, visiting Ohio State’s Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, set for April 18-19 on the Scarlet Course at OSU GC.
