
Two Mustangs Finish in Top 50 in Season Opening Tournament

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. — Redshirt senior Jensen Jalufka and freshman Nicole Koong both finished inside the top 50 in the individual standings to highlight the Cal Poly women's golf team's performance in their season opener, the Therese Hession Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes Golf Club.
Jensen had a remarkable final round of the three day event at the par 71 course. She shot even par Tuesday to finish the tournament tied for 34th at six over par. Koong was not far behind at nine over par to finish tied for 48th after rounds of 75, 74, and 73.
As a team, Cal Poly finished 15th out of 16 teams that featured a loaded field with 14 of the 16 teams ranking inside the top 50 of the collegiate golf rankings, including six of the top 10 teams.
Freshman Sara Torres ended up tied for 76th at 17 over par, senior Kamille Dimayuga was 79th at 20 over par, and sophomore Sarah Yoo was 81st at 22 over par.
Redshirt senior Triana Fernando competed as an individual and finished 87th at 35 over par.
Cal Poly will compete next at the Beach Invitational in Palm Springs at Monterey Country Club Feb. 15-17.
