Three Mustangs Finish Top 50 at Beach Invitational

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — Strong final rounds by several Cal Poly women's golfers saw the Mustangs climb up the team and individual standings Monday at the Beach Invitational at Monterey Country Club in Palm Springs.
Three Mustangs finished inside the top 50 individually as Cal Poly placed tied for 12th out of 21 teams. The field included six teams ranked in the top 50 in the country.
Cal Poly climbed up four spots Tuesday after rounds of under par by both redshirt senior Jensen Jalufka and freshman Nicole Koong at the par 71, 6,108 yard course.
Jalufka finished tied for 23rd at five over par. She shot an even par 71 in the first round followed by a six over 77 in round two. She then saved her best for last Monday, shooting a one under 70 to move up 14 spots.
Koong also had a big final day moving up the leaderboard. She finished tied for 33rd at seven over par after rounds of five over 76, three over 74, and a one under 70 Monday to help the Mustangs move up the standings.
Senior Kamille Dimayuga placed tied for 44th at 10 over par after carding rounds of 74, 75, and 74. Sophomore Sarah Yoo finished tied for 83rd at 20 over par but did move up 13 spots after shooting a final round 74. Freshman Sara Torres finished tied for 91st at 22 over par.
Cal Poly next competes at the Causeway Invitational in Sacramento at Del Paso Country Club Feb. 24-25.
