
Cal Poly Beach Volleyball Looking to Make Waves in 2025

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Following an impressive and historic 2024 season, Cal Poly Beach Volleyball aims to carry its momentum into the highly anticipated 2025 campaign.
The Mustangs ended last year ranked No. 3 nationally with a program-best 31-7 record. Under the guidance of former Olympic gold medalist and 2024 Big West Coach of the Year Todd Rodgers, alongside AVCA National Assistant Coach of the Year Angela Rock, the team reached new heights by advancing to the Semifinals of the NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship as the No. 5 seed—the highest finish in program history. With nine of their starters returning, the Mustangs, ranked No. 4 in the AVCA Preseason Poll, have even higher hopes in 2025.
Here's a look at the starters from last who are back in 2025:
Ella Connor - Selected for the USA Beach Collegiate National Team after placing second at the 2024 Beach World University Championship Trials with partner Izzy Martinez. The duo earned Big West Pair of the Year honors, posting a 26-10 record at No. 1 and a 2-0 mark at No. 2. Their dominance earned them an AVCA Top Flight Award, First-Team All-Big West honors, and AVCA All-American recognition.
Piper Ferch - Reached the finals of the USA Volleyball Junior Pan-Am Games with partner Erin Inskeep. The pair recorded a program-record 30 wins and earned AVCA Top Flight honors, with Ferch securing All-Big West honors for the third consecutive year and an AVCA All-American nod.
Izzy Martinez - Achieved a 27-11 season record, primarily at No. 1 with Ella Connor. Their standout season included wins over eight ranked opponents and selection to the USA Beach Collegiate National Team. Martinez earned AVCA Top Flight honors and was named an AVCA All-American.
Madison Nichols - Posted a 23-12 record at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots with partners Quinn Perry and Abbey Reinard. She clinched a pivotal win at the Big West Championship and NCAA Championships and received Big West All-Conference Honorable Mention.
Erin Inskeep - Finished with an impressive 32-5 record, defeating nine ranked teams alongside partner Piper Ferch. Their quarterfinal run at the AVCA Pairs Championship earned them an AVCA Top Flight Award.
Lindsey Sparks - Registered a 19-5 record with Quinn Perry at No. 3, securing an AVCA Top Flight Award and All-Big West honors while earning victories over eight ranked teams.
Abbey Reinard - Went 20-13, including a key win against Florida State in the NCAA quarterfinals with Madison Nichols. She also defeated four ranked teams during the season.
Quinn Perry – Went 31-7 individually throughout the season. Registered a 19-5 record with Lindsey Sparks at No. 3, securing an AVCA Top Flight Award and All-Big West honors while earning victories over eight ranked teams.
Logan Walter - Posted a 29-4 record with Piper Naess, including victories over eight ranked teams. Walter earned Big West Player of the Week (April 15) and an All-Big West nod.
The No. 4 Mustangs kick off their 2025 season on Feb. 28 at the Battle for LA Tournament in Los Angeles, facing No. 3 UCLA at 12 p.m. and No. 10 Long Beach State at 2 p.m.
