FULLERTON, Calif. — Cal Poly Volleyball delivered its most dominant performance of the 2025 season Friday night, sweeping Cal State Fullerton in straight sets (25-18, 25-14, 25-11) by a 32-point margin at Titan Gym.
The Mustangs commanded the match from start to finish, improving their record to 23-6 overall and 14-3 in the Big West to remain one game behind first-place UC Davis. The victory ensures Cal Poly a first-round bye in the Big West Championship and no worse than a tie for second place in the conference standings.
The Mustangs' offense was efficient from the start, registering 17 kills with a .270 hitting percentage. Defensively, a key block by Charlotte Kelly on the first point set the tone. Despite a late push from the Titans that brought them within two points at 18-16, Cal Poly closed the set on a 7-2 run.
The Mustangs truly pulled away in the second set, hitting .481 with only two attack errors while racking up 15 kills. After an initial 3-3 tie, Cal Poly went on a series of scoring runs to build a substantial lead. Kendall Beshear’s jump serve was on full display, contributing two aces to help seal the 25-14 victory and a 2-0 match lead.
In the final frame, the Mustangs were in complete control. Their defense was stifling, holding the Titans to a .059 hitting percentage while adding four team blocks. A 9-2 run, served by Elif Hurriyet and Emme Bullis, blew the game open midway through the set. Cal Poly cruised from there, with a final block from Bullis and Chloe Leluge ending the match at 25-11.
Fredrick led the Mustang attack with a match-high 12 kills. Leluge followed closely, posting an incredibly efficient 10 kills without an error on just 13 attempts for a .769 hitting percentage. Bullis, who continues her march toward a third season of 1,000+ assists, notched 34 total assists (over 10 per set) and added two service aces.
Defensively, Beshear shared the team lead in digs with Bullis (9) and added three aces. At the net, Kelly enjoyed one of her best defensive efforts of the season, recording a team-high six total blocks.
With just one match remaining for all conference teams, the Mustangs need a loss by UC Davis to claim a share of the regular-season title and the No. 1 seed in the Big West Championship. At the very least, Cal Poly enters tomorrow’s regular-season finale against UC Irvine (1 p.m.) assured of a first-round bye.
