
Cal Poly Starts Three-Game Homestand Friday Against Southern Utah

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Following a three-game road trip, Cal Poly women’s basketball returns home Friday to begin a stretch of three straight home games.
The Mustangs (1-3) will begin the home stretch Friday against Southern Utah. Tip is set for 6 p.m. inside Mott Athletics Center with the game airing on ESPN+. Links to that as well as live stats can be found on the schedule page.
Cal Poly will be looking to snap a three-game losing skid with a win Friday. However, the Mustangs have had several bright spots. Sophomore guard Vanessa McManus currently leads the Big West in scoring at 23 points per game. She has scored in double figures in each of the first four games, scoring over 20 three times and notching a career-high 29 points in a game at Stanford.
Also impressive for the Mustangs so far is freshman forward Charish Thompson. She has made a big splash to begin her collegiate career, averaging 15.8 points which ranks second on the team and seventh in the Big West.
Southern Utah is off to a 4-1 start to the season. That includes wins over Washington State and Eastern Washington. They have three players who average double figure points per game.
Following Friday, Cal Poly takes on Chapman University Monday at 6 p.m. inside Mott Athletics Center.
