
Mustangs Seventh at Preserve; Play Suspended Late in Second Round

CARMEL VALLEY, Calif. – Mustang sophomore Nolan Kuszyk sits eighth on the leaderboard and junior Louis Pilod (above) is 11th at The Preserve Golf Club Collegiate as the tournament – hosted by the Cal Poly men’s golf program – was suspended by darkness Monday evening with a majority of the field near completion of the second of three rounds and the initial 36 holes.
Play at the par-72, 7,138-yard Preserve Golf Club will resume Tuesday morning with the completion of Tuesday’s suspended second round before the field begins the final 18 holes.
Kuszyk opened play Monday with seven birdies as part of a two-under 70 before adding five more birdies in the second round. With three holes remaining in the second round, Kuszyk shares eighth at six under.
Pilod, meanwhile, is a shot behind following a two-under 70 during the opening round and seven total birdies Monday.
Freshman Rafael Bobo-Lloret produced six birdies during the opening round and finished with an even-par 72. He then added an eagle in the afternoon to climb to 32nd at one under.
Fellow freshman Zihao Wang enjoyed seven total birdies and an afternoon eagle, carding a morning 74. With three holes to play in the second round, Wang is 45th.
Senior Sean Lehman and junior Jack Jarvis share 56th with the former producing a morning 72 and the latter a one-under 71.
Playing as an independent alongside Lehman, junior Leo Metzger is 62nd after four birdies Monday.
As a team, Cal Poly is 12 under, but trails 32nd-ranked Long Beach State by just a stroke and third-place San Diego by seven.
