SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Coming off the second consecutive invitational in which top-5 program marks were set, Cal Poly swimming and diving kickstarts the new year with a conference meet against Cal State Bakersfield at home.
The Mustangs currently hold four total top-50 marks in USA Swimming’s NCAA top times report: Drew Huston’s 200 Back (31st, 1:41.26), Evan Yoo’s 200 Back and 100 IM (T-28th, 1:54.10 / T-24th, 50.41), and the 400 Medley Relay (40th, 3:10.53). Between the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams, 25 different top-5 program marks have been set with four of those being Cal Poly records.

Last time out, back in 2024, Evan Yoo and Drew Huston continued to swim incredible times in leading the men’s team to a third place finish at the UNLV Finis Invitational. Amalie Claus-Udarbe enjoyed a successful week as well, putting together a pair of personal bests in the 100 and 200 Breast, good for #5 in each of those respective program lists.
While Cal Poly and Cal State Bakersfield faced off just a few months ago at the CSUB Sprint Classic and Roadrunner Invite, the Mustangs only sent their divers.
Justin Dolezal put together a 293.00 point performance in the 1-meter dive and 292.05 in the 3-meter. That ended up being good enough for not only a second place finish in the respective events but Dolezal also topped Cal State Bakersfield's Dyson Modica and Anderson Laing who bested him in last season's invitationals. During the 1-meter, Dolezal came within 7 points of two-time Summit League Men's Diver of the Year Zyad Morsy (Denver) as the Mustang diver still gave Morsy a tough run. True freshman Lucas Lehrer placed seventh of nine divers (210.60) and scored 246.25 points in the 3-meter.
On the women’s side, Ava Lazovsky (220.65) placed 7th among 21 total divers and Ava Geronimo followed closely behind her with 218.30 points in 9th place. During the 3-meter KellyAnn Lim (181.95) and Myl Lauc (168.20) book-ended the pack but still finished ahead of the bottom two divers. Lazovsky closed out the tournament with an 11th place finish in the 1-meter with 204.20 points.
