FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The Cal Poly women's golf team put on an impressive showing at their third tournament of the fall season, finishing second at the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic in Fort Collins, Colo and setting a program record in the process.
The Mustangs shot a 12 under par 852 for the tournament to finish second out of 11 teams competing. Cal Poly shot even par in rounds one and three but shot an incredible 12 under as a team in round two to break the program record for lowest single round team score. They broke the record by one stroke that had been held since 2019.
Four of the five Mustangs who competed finished under par and in the top 20. Freshman Nicole Koong had the best showing to her young collegiate career so far, finishing tied for sixth at five under par after rounds of 67, 70, and 74 at the par 72 course.
Seniors Kamille Dimayuga and Jensen Jalufka both finished tied for 12th at a three under par 213. Sophomore Sarah Yoo tied for 19th with a one under par 215.
UC Davis won the tournament at 21 under par. The Mustangs finished 13 strokes ahead of third place Colorado State.
The Mustangs will have a few weeks off before playing their final fall tournament Oct. 14-15 at the Dale McNamara Invitational in Tulsa, Okla.
