SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Senior Nick Gammal and freshman Isaac Knapp both scored team points for the Mustang men in the decathlon to highlight a strong performance for Cal Poly during the multi-event portion of the Big West Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday at the Miller & Capriotti Athletics Complex.

Hosting the Big West Track & Field Championships for the first time in program history, the Mustangs were able to score 3 team points in the multi-events thanks to Gammal and Knapp finishing seventh and eighth respectively in the decathlon. Heading into next week's full conference meet, the Cal Poly men currently sit in fifth place in the team standings with UC Irvine in first with 16 points. The Mustangs didn't have anyone compete in the heptathlon on the women's side.
