Mustangs Complete Second-Round Play Saturday at El Macero Classic

EL MACERO CLASSIC TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARD
EL MACERO – Two Mustangs improved upon their opening-round scores Saturday afternoon as the Cal Poly men's golf program completed the second of three rounds at the UC Davis-hosted El Macero Classic.
Competing at the par-72, 7,127-yard El Macero Country Club, junior Jackson Parrish (above) followed an opening-round 81 with a 78 Saturday to climb 10 spots on the leaderboard and into 72nd place. Senior Joey Zambri, meanwhile, was seven strokes better Saturday, recording a 76 for a share of 72nd.
Entering the day tied for fourth, graduate student Ben Quick dropped to 43rd after finishing with an 81. Junior Baron Szeto, meanwhile, shot 79 for the second successive round, collecting two birdies Saturday to sit in 68th position. Graduate student Austin Liu also chalked up two birdies, but nine bogeys dropped his Saturday score to 81 and a share of 85th.
As a program, Cal Poly finished with a team score of 314 Saturday to drop one spot in the field to 18th.
Third-round action at the El Macero Classic gets underway Sunday morning.
