Quick Leads Cal Poly on Day 1 of El Macero Classic

EL MACERO CLASSIC TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARD
EL MACERO – Producing five birdies Friday, graduate student Ben Quick sits in fourth place at the UC Davis-hosted El Macero Classic as the Cal Poly men's golf program completed the first of three rounds at the par-72, 7,127-yard El Macero Country Club.
Quick (above) birdied four of his first five holes, but four bogeys and a double-bogey on the par-five 18th hole contributed to a one-over 73. Entering Saturday's second round, Quick is one of six players two shots behind early leader Tommaso Zorzetto of Grand Canyon.
Mustang junior Baron Szeto is in 61st position after firing a seven-over 79. Despite three birdies, graduate student Austin Liu is a shot behind in 69th spot after recording an 80. Junior Jackson Parrish chalked up four birdies Friday, but a pair of double bogeys placed him in 82nd with an opening-round 81. Senior Joey Zambri finished Friday with an 83.
In the team standings, Cal Poly sits in 17th position with an opening-round 313.
Second-round action at the El Macero Classic gets underway Saturday morning.
