Szeto Ninth; Mustangs Finish 13th at The Lamkin

FINAL RESULTS (TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL)
CHULA VISTA – Junior Baron Szeto (above) shot an even-par 72 during Tuesday's third and final round of The Lamkin to finish in ninth place on the leaderboard, but the Cal Poly men's golf program was 12 over as a team to close the tournament with the Mustangs settling for a 13th-place tie alongside LSU.
After completing the initial 36 holes Monday at the 7,033-yard, par-72 San Diego Country Club, Cal Poly – entering the day in eighth among 16 programs – completed play with a nine-over 873 (288-285-300).
Individually Tuesday, Szeto produced three birdies to finish the tournament at six-under 210 (69-69-72) and just six strokes behind champion Craig Ronne of San Diego.
Starting Tuesday in 13th place, junior Parker Mapes shot a three-over 74 during the final round to finish with a two-under 214 (69-71-74) and in a tie for 23rd. Freshman Louis Pilod was 83rd with an 11-over 227 (77-71-79), junior Jackson Parrish finished 84th with a 228 (73-74-81) and graduate student Ben Quick was 90th on 232 (78-79-75).
Playing as an individual, senior Joey Zambri enjoyed six birdies Tuesday, jumping 14 spots up the leaderboard to 23rd with a two-under 70 and three-round total of two-under 214 (73-71-70).
Cal Poly resumes play at Oregon's The Duck, scheduled for March 25-26 at the Eugene Country Club.
