Quick into Top 20 at The Goodwin; Zambri Jumps 71 Spots

THE GOODWIN TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARD
SAN FRANCISCO – Recording four birdies to finish with a one-over-par 71 Friday afternoon, graduate student Ben Quick remained the Cal Poly golf program's low overall scorer at The Goodwin with the England native sliding into 18th position on the leaderboard after two rounds.
With action hosted by Stanford at the par-70, 7,193-yard TPC Harding Park, Quick enters Saturday's final round with a two-day, one-over 141.
Senior Joey Zambri (above) produced the largest one-day improvement on the leaderboard from any Mustang this season as his five birdies contributed to a one-under 69 – six shots better than Thursday's opening round to climb 71 spots and into 44th place with a two-day total of 144.
Junior Baron Szeto followed an opening-day 72 with a four-over 74 Friday that included a pair of birdies. He sits in 68th with a six-over 146. Junior Jackson Parrish, meanwhile, finished with a 76 Friday and enters the final round with an 11-over 151. Junior Parker Mapes enjoyed one birdie Friday, but settled for a 78 and a two-day total of 153.
With two Mustangs competing as individuals, freshman Louis Pilod collected three birdies as part of a two-over 72 Friday. He enters the final round in 53rd place with a five-over 145. Also playing as an individual, graduate student Austin Liu shot an 83 Friday.
As a program, Cal Poly improved two shots from Thursday's opening round, finishing with a 10-over 290. The Mustangs, however, dropped one spot on the leaderboard and into 19th place in the 31-program field.
