Mustangs Host No. 24 ASU, Travel to No. 16 Stanford for Final Pac-12 Duals

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly wrestling team hosts No. 24 Arizona State on Friday night in its home finale and travels to No. 16 Stanford on Sunday for its final Pac-12 dual of the season.
Friday's dual against the Sun Devils (4-5, 2-1 Pac-12) at Mott Athletics Center is scheduled to start at 7 p.m., while Sunday's battle with the Cardinal (9-2, 2-0 Pac-12) inside Maples Pavilion is set for 11 a.m.
Prior to Friday's home dual, Cal Poly will honor its three seniors — Michael Goldfeder, Legend Lamer and Daniel Vizcarra. The match will be streamed live on the Cal Poly wrestling Twitter/X account (@CalPolyWrestle) and simultaneously on FloWrestling with Bill Grundler and Mike Malinconico on the call. One lucky student at Friday's dual will be taking home a brand new 50-inch LG TV and a soundbar. To be eligible for the giveaway, students must check into the dual on Ride High Rewards. The prize will be given away prior to the final match of the night.

No. 25 Cal Poly (5-3, 1-2 Pac-12 dual) will be looking to bounce back from a 21-12 defeat at Little Rock, ranked No. 18 in this week's NWCA Coaches Poll, this past Saturday.
The Mustangs continue to boast six nationally ranked wrestlers with redshirt sophomore Chance Lamer and graduate student Adam Kemp leading the way. Chance has been dominant all season long and is ranked fifth nationally at 149 pounds with a 14-1 record. Kemp, No. 9 at 174 pounds, returned to the Mustangs' lineup for the first time in over a month to wrestle in last Saturday's dual at Little Rock, improving to 13-3 with a 3-2 decision over No. 24 Tyler Brennan. Chance (8-0) and Kemp (3-0) are both still undefeated in duals this season.
Redshirt freshman Zeth Romney (No. 12, 133 pounds), redshirt sophomore Trevor Tinker (No. 23, 285), redshirt freshman Dom Mendez (No. 30, 125) and Legend (No. 31, 157) are all nationally ranked as well.
Arizona State is fresh off a thrilling 19-17 home victory over No. 20 Oregon State this past Sunday. Cohlton Schultz, the fourth-ranked heavyweight in the country, earned a 5-2 decision in the final match to secure the dual victory for the Sun Devils. Arizona State's lone Pac-12 defeat this season came at Little Rock on Jan. 19, 18-15.
ASU also has six nationally ranked wrestlers, including three in the top five. Kyle Parco (149) and Jacori Teemer (157) are both ranked No. 3 in their respective weight classes. Friday's battle between Chance and Parco could be a potential preview of the Pac-12 Championship match at 149 pounds.
Stanford is the only school yet to be beaten in Pac-12 competition, defeating Little Rock 24-15 on Jan. 28 and Cal State Bakersfield 38-9 on Feb. 4 at Maples Pavilion. The Cardinal are expected to have six nationally wrestlers in their lineup for Sunday's dual led by Daniel Cardenas, the defending Pac-12 champion at 157 pounds who is ranked sixth in the country.
After concluding Pac-12 action this weekend, Cal Poly will head to Cal Baptist on Friday, Feb. 16, for its final dual of the season.
