Quick Paces Cal Poly on Final Day at The Prestige

THE PRESTIGE FINAL SCORING: TEAM | INDIVIDUAL
LA QUINTA – Graduate student Ben Quick (above) was the Cal Poly men's golf program's low scorer to close the third and final round of The Prestige Wednesday afternoon as the Mustangs – 11 over par as a team – completed the event in 19th place.
During the team event on the par-71 Greg Norman Course at PGA West, Quick's scorecard included seven birdies to finish with a one-under 70. Quick (77-73-70), with a seven-over 220, climbed to 85th place alongside fellow graduate student Austin Liu (69-75-76) – who was five over Wednesday, but did eagle the 566-yard, par-five 12th hole.
Freshman Louis Pilod (67-69-75), tied for seventh place entering Wednesday's final round, was four over Wednesday to finish in 30th place and as Cal Poly's top competitor with a two-over 211.
Junior Baron Szeto (76-69-74) finished in 79th with a six-over 219 while junior Parker Mapes (82-71-77) was six-over par Wednesday.
Competing in the individual event on the par-72 Terra Lago North Course, senior Joey Zambri enjoyed four birdies and an eagle on the par-five 17th hole to complete a one-under 71 and finish tied for 16th with an even-par 216 (70-75-71). Despite five birdies, junior Jackson Parrish fired a one-over 73 Wednesday to finish tied for 31st with a four-over 220 (74-73-73).
As a team, Cal Poly's 295 on Wednesday was 11 over as the Mustangs (289-282-295) – in 19th place with a 14-over 866 – finished seven shots behind Baylor. Texas Tech, with a 33-under 819, won the event by 12 strokes.
Cal Poly resumes action at The Lamkin, hosted by San Diego March 4-5 at the San Diego Country Club.
