PLATFORM DIVING RESULTS
MISSION VIEJO, Calif. — Cal Poly freshman Justin Dolezal secured the highest finish in program history in the men's platform dive at the MPSF Diving Championships on Wednesday at the Marguerite Aquatics Complex.
During the final day of the MPSF Diving Championships, Dolezal capped off an incredible showing at the four-day meet by capturing fifth in the men's platform dive with a score of 248.45 — second best in school history. Dolezal now owns a top-five mark in program history in all three dives. The San Luis Obispo native is No. 2 all-time in the 1-meter dive (338.48) and No. 5 in the 3-meter dive (321.45).
On Monday, Dolezal opened his first conference championship meet by earning a podium finish in the 1-meter dive, grabbing third. It marked the highest individual finish by a Cal Poly men's diver since the program joined the MPSF in 2014-15. He also took eighth in the 3-meter Tuesday.
Fellow freshman Madden Saini secured seventh in the men's platform dive, a day after placing fourth in the 3-meter — the second highest individual finish in school history by a Cal Poly men's diver at the MPSF Championships.
On the women's side Wednesday, freshman Shayna Gayer took 12th in the platform dive and senior Briana Medvecki was 15th. Gayer's finish is tied for the best in the event by a Mustang since Makenzie Kamei grabbed sixth in 2017.
With the MPSF Diving Championships now in the books, Cal Poly will shift its focus to the swimming portion of the conference meet which will be held Feb. 21-24 at Utah Tech's Human Performance Center in St. George, Utah.
