SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly women's golf third year head coach Courtney Roberts has announced the signing of three players to her 2025 recruiting class.
Joining the Mustangs are Taylor Baker from Sacramento, Alex Flier from Los Angeles, and Maddy Saysanasongkham from San Diego. All three are high school seniors and will join the Mustangs in the fall of 2025.
"We are extremely excited to announce the signing of our 2025 recruiting class,” Roberts said. “Alex, Maddy & Taylor are big time recruits who love the game, work incredibly hard and aspire for greatness in all they do. They will continue to push this program forward to new heights. We can’t wait to have them on campus next year impacting our program.”
“I believe our 2025 recruiting class is the strongest to date and reflects the positive direction the program is heading.”
Baker has been one of the top players in northern California the last several years. Playing at Rio Americano High School in Sacramento, she recently became the first person from Rio Americano to win the CIF Individual NorCal Championship. She also had a third place finish at the IMG Academy Junior World Championship with rounds of 70, 67, and 70, made the quarterfinals of the Women’s Western Juniors and made the round of 64 at the U.S. Girls Junior Championship.
At Rio Americano, Baker broke all the school’s women’s golf records and was both Team MVP and All-League all four years. Off the course, she boasts a 4.0 GPA all four years and plans to major in business at Cal Poly.
"Taylor is competitive, hardworking and embodies the characteristics we look for in a student-athlete,” Roberts said of Baker. “She grew up a big Cal Poly fan, spending holidays in SLO and still has family in the area making it extra special to be able to finally announce her joining our team.”
Flier, who is originally from Los Angeles, attends high school at the Dwight School in New York. While she hasn’t competed in high school golf, she has done very well in junior events all over the world.
"Alex is an incredibly impressive golfer and person,” Roberts said. “She has great technique and her passion for greatness is evident. She grew up playing competitive soccer and skiing, brings this athleticism to her golf game and in just three years of competitive golf has competed all over the world. Some of these top events include the Madrid Championships in Spain, Grand Prix d’Aix-Marseille-Caillol in France and a recent third place finish at the FCG Labor Day Championship with scores of 71, 71. She stands out with her academic success as well graduating in June with an International Baccalaureate diploma from the Dwight School.”
Saysanasongkham attends Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego where she was a two-time League Player of the Year, the 2023 San Diego Junior Golf Player of the Year, First Team All-CIF and represented San Diego at the Girl’s Junior America’s Cup in 2023 and 2024.
She helped lead Rancho Bernardo to four league championships and was a two-time Long Horn Invitational individual champion.
"Maddy is gritty, competitive and has a lot of firepower,” Roberts said of Saysanasongkham. “She is a proven winner and has been successful at all levels of the junior golf circuit, from national tournaments to California high school golf. She joined the AJGA winners circle at the AJGA Fresno/Clovis CVB Junior Championship this summer with scores of 74-68-66 and helped lead her Rancho Bernardo HS Team this fall with a record-breaking season of 12 consecutive under par rounds.”
