
Mustangs Ninth at USF-Howard Intercollegiate

FINAL RESULTS: TEAM | INDIVIDUAL
SAN FRANCISCO – Senior Joey Zambri (above) and junior Jackson Parrish both finished under par Tuesday to improve their individual positions and the Cal Poly men's golf team compiled an even-par final round, but the Mustangs closed the USF-Howard Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon at TPC Harding Park with a ninth-place showing.
Zambri, who entered Tuesday's final round in 21st place, moved up to 15th after shooting 70 and finishing with a four-under 212. Parrish, meanwhile, carded a 69 to finish even-par 216 and improve 21 places to 28th.
Mustang graduate student Ben Quick fired 76 Tuesday to finish with a four-over 219 and in 40th position. Freshman Reese Sato's second successive round of 73 improved his standing to 48th with a four-over 222, alongside graduate student Austin Liu (73-72-77). Freshman Louis Pilod was 59th (74-76-76-226).
As a team, Cal Poly's final-round 288 was the seventh highest score among the 13 competing programs. The Mustangs, with a three-round, three-over par score of 867, finished one stroke behind co-host Howard.
Cal Poly resumes play at California's Alister Mackenzie Invitational, scheduled for Oct. 9-10 at the Meadow Club (Fairfax, Calif.).
