Cal Poly Beach Volleyball Earns USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for Third Straight Year

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The United State Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced Thursday that the Cal Poly beach volleyball program is among the recipients of the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2022-2023 season. The Mustang beach team posted a year-long team GPA of 3.55 with 15 players holding above a 3.0 GPA and nine with over a 3.5 GPA for the 2022-23 school year. This marks the third straight year Cal Poly has earned the AVCA Team Academic Award. The Mustangs are one of 44 Division I beach programs and two Big West schools to earn the team award. The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
