SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- The Cal Poly women's golf team is headed to Palouse Ridge Golf Club for the 2023 NCAA Pullman Regional.
The Mustangs, who competed in the Stanford Regional each of the last two seasons, have qualified for the NCAA regionals three straight years after capturing their third consecutive Big West Conference Women's Golf Championship two weeks ago at the Spanish Trail Country Club in Las Vegas.
Washington State will be the host of the Pullman Regional, which will include 12 teams and six individuals. Cal Poly is seeded 11th in the 12-team field. Stanford is the top seed, followed by Baylor and Pac-12 champion USC.
Other teams in the Pullman Regional are Atlantic Coast Conference champion Clemson, Big Sky champion Sacramento State, Horizon League champion Green Bay and at-large entrants Kentucky, Texas Tech, Houston, North Carolina and UNLV.
Among the six individuals in the field is Tiffany Le of UC Riverside, runner-up in the Big West finals. Big West individual champion Jasmine Leovao of Long Beach State has qualified for the San Antonio Regional (TPC San Antonio).
The other four regional sites are Westfield, Indiana (The Club at Chatham Gills Golf Course), Raleigh, N.C. (Lonnie Poole Golf Course), Athens, Georgia (University of Georgia Golf Course) and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida (PGA National Resort).
Top five teams and the low individual not on an advancing team from each of the six regionals (30 teams and six individuals total) will advance to the 2023 NCAA Division I National Women's Golf Championship on May 19-24 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Twenty-seven conferences received automatic qualification to the 2022 Division I Women's Golf Championship with another 45 teams earning at-large bids. Cal Poly is the lone representative from the Big West Conference after defeating Long Beach State by 11 strokes on April 18.
In addition to the 2021 and 2022 Stanford regionals, Cal Poly also competed in the 2017 Albuquerque Regional. The Mustangs have claimed four of the last six Big West team championships (no Big West championship was held in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic) but are seeking their first trip to the nationals in program history.
Regional pairings were announced Wednesday on The Golf Channel.
