Cal Poly Competes in First Round of El Macero Classic

FIRST-ROUND RESULTS
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Joey Zambri and Austin Liu both carded 72s in the opening round of the El Macero Classic hosted by UC Davis at the El Macero Golf Club on Friday.
The Cal Poly duo share 22nd place with 17 other golfers at even par on the 7,127-yard course. Ben Quick is in 41st place with a 73 while Jackson Parrish shot a 75 for 52nd place and Baron Szeto a 76 for 70th place.
Cal Poly is tied for 13th place with UC Davis in the 20-team field, both with four-over-par 292 totals.
Loyola Marymount leads with a six-under-par 282 aggregate, followed by San Diego and UCLA, tied for second at 283.
Matthew Anderson of San Francisco leads the individual leaderboard with an eight-under-par 64 total, with Isaac Rodea of Long Beach State, Andi Xu of San Diego and Carson Griggs of Denver all sharing second place with 67s.
Zambri is tied for fourth in par-5 scoring at three under par and carded an eagle on the 539-yard par-5 second hole.
Second round will be played Saturday with the final round Sunday.
