FIRST-ROUND RESULTS
LA QUINTA, Calif. -- Austin Liu carded a two-over-par 73 and is tied for 44th place, highlighting Cal Poly's performance on the opening day of The Prestige hosted by Stanford on the Greg Norman Course at PGA West.
Liu's round included three birdies, three bogeys and a double-bogey. on the 7,100-yard, par-71 course.
Jackson Parrish added a 75 for 70th plate while Parker Mapes and Ben Quick both checked in with 76s, tied for 81st place. Baron Szeto recorded a 78 and is in 96th place.
Cal Poly is 21st following a four-person 300 total. There are 24 teams and 120 golfers in the field.
Pepperdine leads the team standings with an eight-under-par 276, one shot ahead of Stanford and three in front of TCU.
Individual leader after 18 holes is William Mouw of Pepperdine with a six-under-par 65. He leads Michael Thorbjornsen of Stanford and Tyran Snyders of Texas Tech by one stroke.
Second round will be played Tuesday with the final round on Wednesday.
