Cal Poly Volleyball Signs Three to National Letters of Intent

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly volleyball program and the athletic department announced that three recruits have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their athletic and academic careers at Cal Poly beginning in the fall of 2024.
The signees include two outside hitters (Kendall Beshear, Palos Verdes Estates, CA, Palos Verdes HS), (Kayla Murdoch, Thousand Oaks, CA, Thousand Oaks HS/Ventura College) and a middle blocker (Chloe LeLuge, Bend, OR, Bend Senior HS).
Beshear is a hard-hitting outside hitter who earlier this week was named an AVCA High School First Team All-American, and a Prep Volleyball All-American. She was also the USA Volleyball 17 Open's MVP this past summer.
She attends Palos Verdes High School where this season, she set the Palos Verdes High School record for kills in a season with 520. She helped lead the team to a Division I CIF Southern Section Championship and to the finals of the State Championship. During her high school career, she was a two-time All-Bay League honoree.
Off the court, she has been an AP Scholar and made the honor roll three times. The future Agricultural Business major says she chose Cal Poly because "the location, coaches, team, and the academics made it a perfect fit for me."

At Bend Senior High School, LeLuge was the state of Oregon's Co-Player of the Year in 2022. She's also been named First Team All-State Tournament three straight years and has helped lead the school to two straight State Championship game appearances.
LeLuge, who is fluent in Spanish, plans to major in Architecture at Cal Poly and said she chose the Mustangs because "I love academic opportunities and the location and the coach and team dynamic is very positive."

Thousand Oaks, CA
Murdoch is a junior college transfer who has played at Ventura College the past two seasons who plays both indoor and beach volleyball and will play both for the Mustangs as well.Kayla Murdoch
She set the Ventura College record for kills in a season with 385. She was named a Junior College First Team All-American, First Team All-State, and First Team All-Conference as She was second in the state among junior college players in hitting percentage (.367) and top ten in the state in kills, kills per set and points per set.
At Thousand Oaks High School, she was named both team and league MVP in addition to being named a Division 4 All-CIF Southern Section First Team honoree. She set Thousand Oaks' volleyball record for kills in a match twice, first with 31 in a four-set match, then 36 in a four-set match.
The 6'2" Murdoch, whose father Scott played beach volleyball professionally on the AVP Tour from 1996-99, plans to major in Art at Cal Poly and chose the Mustangs because "I love the area, campus, and athletics. It's always been one of my dream schools."
