Cal Poly Invitational Returns to The Preserve Oct. 29-31

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Returning to The Preserve in Carmel Valley, Calif., the Mustang men's golf program hosts its second annual Cal Poly Invitational, scheduled for 36 holes on Monday, Oct. 30 and 18 holes on Tuesday, Oct. 31.Named by Golf Digest both as one of America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses and the best in California course for 13 successive years, the par-72 Preserve covers 7,041 yards set within The Santa Lucia Preserve.
Prior to Monday's 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, the Collegiate-Amateur tournament takes place on Sunday, Oct. 29. The event serves as a practice round for tournament entrants, who will be pair alongside amateur players for the 18-hole warmup.
The 15-program field comprises 22nd-ranked Duke, No. 24 Oregon, California, Colorado State, Jacksonville, UCLA, Northwestern, Oregon State, San Diego, San Francisco, USC, SMU, Toledo and No. 25 Ohio State, which looks to defend its 2022 title after finishing the inaugural event at 19-under to best Northwestern by three strokes.
Cal Poly enter Monday's opening round at The Preserve following an historic effort at California's Oct. 9-10 Alister Mackenzie Invitational with the Mustangs breaking a 16-year program record for lowest team score over 54 holes, finishing with an 826 on The Meadow Course in Fairfax, Calif.
Following the Cal Poly Invitational, the Mustangs resume action at Jacksonville's Jan. 29-30 Sea Best Invitational at TPC Sawgrass (Dye Valley Course) in Ponte Vedra, Fla.
