SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Six members of Cal Poly's men's and women's golf teams have been honored recently with academic awards.
Three men's golfers -- Nicholas Mok, Austin Liu and Will Draper -- are 2021-22 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for NCAA Division I. The Golf Coaches Association of America honored 440 NCAA Division I athletes from 157 schools.
Meanwhile, Kamille Dimayuga, Elizabeth Scholtes and Kaylyn Noh were honored from the Big West Conference championship Mustang women's golf team as WGCA All-American Scholars.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Draper, Liu and Mok all averaged 74.3 strokes per round, Draper with a pair of top-10 finishes and five rounds of par or better and Liu with nine rounds of par or better. Mok finished seven rounds at par or better.
In addition, the Mustang men's team, which has compiled a grade-point average of 3.0 or better for the 2021-22 academic year, was honored Monday with an All-Academic Team award by the GCAA.
WGCA All-American Scholars must earn at least a 3.5 grade-point average for all academic years. A total of 1,506 women's collegiate golfers were recognized with this prestigious honor.
Noh earned the Big West Conference individual title last spring at the San Luis Obispo Country Club and led Cal Poly to its third conference championship in the last six years. She averaged 73.2 strokes over 27 rounds with seven top-20 finishes and 11 rounds of par or better, including five in the 60s.
Dimayuga posted a 75.4 scoring average with three top-20 finishes and 10 rounds of par or better while Scholtes compiled a 75.2 scoring average with five rounds of par or better.
