Cal Poly Beach Volleyball Earns USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The United State Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced Monday that the Cal Poly beach volleyball program is among the recipients of the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2021-2022 season.
The Mustang beach team posted a year-long team GPA of 3.55 with all 19 players holding above a 3.0 GPA for the 2021-22 school year.
This marks the second straight year Cal Poly has earned the AVCA Team Academic Award. The beach team is one of 36 Division I beach programs and four Big West schools to earn the team award.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
