SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Baron Szeto and Will Draper, members of the Cal Poly men's golf team, have been honored by the Big West Conference for their play during the 2021-22 season.
Szeto, Cal Poly's top finisher in the recent Big West Men's Golf Championship, landed on the all-conference second team while Draper earned honorable mention praise.
Szeto, a freshman from Moraga, Calif., and a graduate of Campolindo High School, finished in a tie for fourth place in the conference finals at the La Quinta Country Club, posting rounds of 71, 73 and 71 on the 7,056-yard par-72 course for a one-under-par 215 total.
He shared fourth place with Mark Stephens of UC Davis, Felix Schrott of CSUN and Isaac Rodea of Long Beach State.
Szeto carded three birdies and a pair of bogeys in his final round, climbing five spots on the final leaderboard. For the three-day 54-hole tournament, the Campolindo High School graduate recorded 13 birdies, eight bogeys and a pair of double-bogeys.
Szeto played the par-5 holes at nine under par to lead the field and his 13 birdies were one shy of the lead.
Szeto's first season as a Mustang included a 73.6 scoring average over 32 rounds with three top-20 finishes and 11 rounds of par or better, including three in the 60s.
