Draper, Liu Lead Cal Poly in First Round of UCSB Collegiate

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Will Draper and Austin Liu finished in the top 30 after the first round of play in the UC Santa Barbara Collegiate on Monday at the Sandpiper Golf Course.
Draper carded a 74 in the opening round, including three birdies, and is tied for 21st place with six other golfers while Liu checked in with a 75. Liu's scorecard consisted of an eagle on the 524-yard first hole and three birdies.
The second round of play was canceled due to high winds in the Santa Barbara area. Final round is set for Tuesday morning on the 7,040-yard, par-72 seaside course.
Cal Poly enters the final round 12th in the field of 14 teams after a 20-over-par four-person 308 aggregate in the opening round. CSUN leads the way at even-par 288 followed by Sacramento State (290) and California Baptist and Weber State, tied for third at 193.
Individual leader after 18 holes is Eirik Thomassen of CSUN with a five-under-par 67, two strokes ahead of Sacramento State's Ethan Davidson (69). Rajvir Bedi of UC Santa Barbara is third with a 70.
In addition to Draper and Liu, Cal Poly's other scoring golfers were Baron Szeto, tied for 45th place with a 77; Parker Mapes, tied for 70th place with an 82 and Nicholas Mok, also tied for 70th with an 82.
Competing as individuals, Adil Bir Singh is tied for 66th place with an 80 and Joey Zambri is in 83rd place following an 85.
Liu is tied for fifth in par-5 scoring at three under par and is one of 11 golfers to card an eagle Monday. Szeto is tied for seventh in total birdies with four.
