SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Cal Poly senior Elizabeth Scholtes, the Valley Invitational individual champion in early February, has been named Big West Conference Women's Golfer of the Month.
Scholtes, who didn't play in the fall, opened her final season as a Mustang with rounds of 72, 72 and 73 to lead the Mustangs to a third-place team finish.
After posting her second career first-place finish, Scholtes finished 17th in 'The Show' at Las Vegas, carding a 69 in the second round for her third career round in the 60s. The Alameda, Calif., native also competed in last week's Gunrock Invitational, where she posted a final-round 72 to finish tied for 45th.
A graduate of Alameda High School, Scholtes earned the Big West award for the second time in her Cal Poly career. She sports a 73.6 scoring average over nine rounds this year with four rounds of par or better.
For her Mustang career, Scholtes has averaged 75.3 strokes over 77 rounds with 17 rounds of par or better, including three rounds in the 60s. Her personal-best round was a 68 in February 2019 at the Battle at the Rock.
Cal Poly returns to action March 21-22 at the Fresno State Classic, to be contested at the Belmont Country Club.
