Bouzigues, Fredeen Earn Top-Three Finishes in UCSB Multis

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Dylan Bouzigues finished second in the decathlon Thursday, highlighting Cal Poly's performances in the UC Santa Barbara Invitational Combined Events at Pauley Track.
Bouzigues scored 6,690 points in the 10-event competition, finishing behind only Matthew Molina of UC Santa Barbara by 56 points.
Bouzigues placed first in the shot put (41-9) and discus (123-0.75), second in both the high jump (6-2) and 110 hurdles (15.476) and third in the pole vault (13-5.25) among the nine competitors.
Mustang teammate Kevin Fernandez placed eighth with a personal-best 5,665 points while Nick Gammel was ninth with 5,527 points.
In the women's heptathlon, Adelae Fredeen finished third with 4,509 points, Shimona Draper was fourth (personal-best 4,330) and Maya Holman fifth (4,212). There were 13 heptathletes in the field.
Draper placed first in the 100 hurdles (15.05) and 200 (26.28) and was second in the long jump (17-10.75) while Fredeen earned third-place finishes in both the hurdles (15.22) and javelin (110-10.25). Holman finished second in the high jump (4-11.75).
Track and field events will be held Friday at Pauley Track.
