LA QUINTA, Calif. -- Joey Zambri carded a round of 77 to lead Cal Poly in the opening round of The Prestige hosted by UC Davis on Monday on the Greg Norman Course at PGA West.
Austin Liu added a 78, Baron Szeto a 79 and Will Draper an 81 as Coach Phil Rowe's Mustangs carded a four-person 315 total on the 7,100-yard par-71 layout.
Second round will be played Tuesday with the final round set for Wednesday.
Davis Bryant of Colorado State and Reid Davenport of Vanderbilt share the first-round lead with two-under-par 69s, one shot ahead of six golfers tied for third place.
Vanderbilt and Oregon are tied for first place in the team standings with three-over-par 287 aggregates. LSU is one shot back in third place and Long Beach State is fourth at five over par.
In Tuesday's second round, Szeto rallied with a 74, including an eagle, while Draper added a 77 and Luke Adam 78 as the Mustangs lowered their team total to 310. Cal Poly is 24th with a 57-over-par 625 total entering Wednesday's final round.
