Cal Poly Men in Second at UNLV Invitational

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Powered by stellar performances from junior Ryan Trichler (pictured above) and freshman Alex Seybold on Saturday, the Cal Poly men's swimming and diving team sits in second place after the first day of the UNLV Invitational.
The Mustangs racked up 221 team points to open the three-day meet and only trail host UNLV. The Cal Poly women are tied for sixth with New Mexico.
Trichler swam a personal-best time of 4:39.29 in the 500-yard freestyle to capture seventh and he placed eighth in the 200 individual medley. Seybold secured seventh in the 200 IM and eighth in the 50 free. Trichler and Seybold each earned 23 individual points Saturday, the most among all men's swimmers.
Junior Joshua Billotte took sixth in the 500 free, Cal Poly's highest individual finish on the day.
Senior Ryan Iannaccone placed ninth in the 50 free (20.76), while junior Sean Keegan and senior Brian Wong finished ninth and 10th respectively in the 200 IM.
Freshman Drew Huston, Seybold, Wong and Iannaccone led Cal Poly to a third-place result in the men's 400 medley relay, while Keegan, Wong, Iannaccone and Sullivan teamed up to cross the finish line in fourth in the 200 free relay.
On the women's side, the Mustangs saw strong performances from seniors Kaia Anderson (20th in the 500 free, 26th 200 IM), Samantha Rankin (24th in the 200 IM and 500 free) and Amy Harter (22nd 50 free).
