COMPLETE GAME PREVIEW
SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Cal Poly men's basketball program closes a two-game home stand and the 2022 California Thanksgiving Jam when welcoming Idaho to Mott Athletics Center on Wednesday, Nov. 23. Tip time is 4 p.m. for Cal Poly (1-3), which looks to snap a three-game slide following Sunday's 73-68 setback to Mount St. Mary's in which the Mustangs nearly overturned a 15-point deficit in the second half. Idaho (1-4) – defeated by Cal Poly last year in the third place game of the SoCal Challenge – has also dropped three straight, falling most recently at home to Utah Tech, 81-71 (Nov. 19).

CAL POLY VERSUS IDAHO: Big West opponents between the 1996-97 and 2004-05 seasons, Cal Poly snapped a four-game slide to Idaho with a 67-63 victory in the third place game of last year's SoCal Challenge (Nov. 24). Previously, Idaho topped Cal Poly in the 2017 Great Alaska Shootout third place game, 75-66. Visiting Cal Poly for the first time since Feb. 5, 2005, Idaho leads the all-time series, 12-8.
KOROMA REMAINS CAL POLY'S OFFENSIVE CATALYST: One of Cal Poly's top two scorers for a third successive season, forward Alimamy Koroma opened his senior year with successive 15-point efforts and ranks second among Big West Conference shooters with a 60.0 (18-for-30) percent field goal mark. With 39 career double-digit scoring games, Koroma is averaging 10.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while shooting 50.6 (318-for-628) percent through 80 collegiate outings and 51 starts. He requires 150 more points to become just the 25th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points. Koroma also ranks eighth in program history with 63 career blocks.
TAYLOR MADE SCORING: Now Cal Poly's second leading scorer at 11.3 points per game following a 17-point performance against Mount St. Mary's (Nov. 20), senior guard Trevon Taylor completed a second career double-double with 10 rebounds versus The Mount. The only Mustang to start all four games this season, Taylor also leads Cal Poly and ranks ninth among Big West players with 6.8 rebounds per game.
THE SMITHS: With the addition of Jamal Smith – son of fourth-year head coach John Smith – as director of operations, Cal Poly is one of only three Division I programs with that familial distinction. Louisiana Monroe features head coach Keith Richard and director of operations Luke while North Florida counts head coach Matthew Driscoll alongside operations director and son, Chase.
LOOKING AHEAD (MONDAY, NOV. 28): Cal Poly returns from Thanksgiving break at another former Big West foe – Pacific – on Monday, Nov. 28. Tip time from the Spanos Center is 7 p.m. for Cal Poly, which faces Pacific for only the second time since the Tigers departed the Big West for the West Coast Conference following the 2012-13 season.
ETC.: Cal Poly is in its 79th season as a four-year program and 29th at the Division I level … since transitioning to the Division I level prior to the 1994-95 season, Cal Poly improved to 45-1 against non-Division I programs with a 94-59 home win against NCCAA Bethesda University (Nov. 7) … Cal Poly's 73-68 home setback versus Mount St. Mary's (Nov. 18) marked the program's first all-time matchup versus The Mount and just the fourth all-time game against a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opponent.
