Iannaccone Shines on Opening Day of Utah Tech Invitational

ST. GEORGE, Utah — An impressive third-place finish by senior Ryan Iannaccone (pictured above) in the men's 50-yard freestyle highlighted action for the Cal Poly swimming and diving program during the opening day of the Utah Tech Trailblazer Invitational on Thursday.
Iannaccone swam a personal-best time of 20.57 seconds in the 50 free to take home third. Senior Brian Wong secured 10th in the event.
Iannaccone and Wong also helped the Mustangs secure third in the men's 200 free relay with a time of 1:22.21. Freshmen Andrew Sullivan and Nicky Glenn swam the other two legs on the relay.
Junior Sean Keegan earned eighth in the men's 200 IM. He had the fifth-fastest time in prelims.
On the women's side, senior Kaia Anderson had a strong showing in the 500 free. She was ninth in prelims and captured 15th in the finals.
After the first day of the three-day invitational, the Cal Poly men sit in third out of five teams, while the women are in 10th.
Action at the DSU HPC Pool on Friday starts at 9 a.m. PST.
