A 72 by Scholtes Leads Cal Poly in Second Round of Iconic Classic

SECOND-ROUND RESULTS
LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Elizabeth Scholtes matched par in Tuesday's second round and the five Cal Poly golfers competing in the Golf Iconic Classic all are within two strokes of each other heading into the final round Wednesday.
Scholtes carded one birdie and one bogey to go with 16 pars on the 6,420-yard, par-72 University Golf Course on the campus of New Mexico State. Scholtes climbed 16 spots on the leaderboard into 35th place.
Jensen Jalufka added a 73 to jump seven spots into a tie for 23rd place. Kamille Dimayuga also is tied for 23rd place after carding a 74 Tuesday.
Cal Poly's other scoring golfers were Nicole Neale with a 75 and Vanessa Wang with a 74 as they share 30th place with three other golfers.
Individual leader with 18 holes to play is Jasmine Leovao of Long Beach State with a seven-under-par 137 total after posting a second-round 70. She is one stroke ahead of Sarah Bell of Oral Roberts and two in front of Pepperdine's Lion Higo.
New Mexico State trimmed 14 strokes off Monday's opening-round 294 and vaulted from fifth place into the lead in the team standings with a two-under-par 574 total. Pepperdine is one shot behind the Aggies while Long Beach State is three off the pace.
Cal Poly posted a four-person 294 total Tuesday and heads into the final round in sixth place in the 15-team field with an 11-over-par 587 aggregate, 13 shots off the lead. The Mustangs are just four shots out of fourth place.
Dimayuga is sixth in par-3 scoring at one under par. Scholtes is tied for first with Pluem Yongyuan of Southern Utah in total pars with 29 through 36 holes of play.
